Guitar Sessions 49: Play Gillian Welch’s “Tear My Stillhouse Down”
Since interviewing Gillian Welch and David Rawlings for a recent Acoustic Guitar cover story (which you can read here), I’ve been happily re-immersed in their music. So I thought I’d share one of their classic songs for this episode of Guitar Sessions: “Tear My Stillhouse Down,” from their seminal debut album, Revival.
“Stillhouse” is a bluesy three-chord song played in dropped-D tuning, and it’s a great one for a jam session. You can play a very simple rhythm, but there are also lots of opportunities to add riffs and instrumental breaks because of the tuning.
As with all the episodes in this series, you can find a lyric/chord chart and tab over on Patreon.
